What is Good Denim?
Normal garments use Indigo denim fabric with a minimum weight of 14.5 ounces per square yard for men's jeans and a minimum weight of 12.5 ounces per square yard for ladies jeans.
The following properties are essential:
A minimum amount (ideally nil) of indigo blue dye should get deposited on the backside of the fabric, i.e., the inner side of the jeans.
Thre should be no "white streaks" in the fabric.
Should have a sharp twill line.
There should be a good degree of puckering effect at all the parallel stitches.
There should not be any darker patches.
Good jeans should not have hairiness or any other types of impurities on the surface of the fabric.
Jeans using a stronger fabric will maintain their shape for longer.
Three different types of thread usually used in jeans: cotton, spun-polyester and koban.
Pocket placement and decoration should be indentical.
